Q: What do you mean "G-Scale"? What size is it?

A: Well, it is a little confusing. In the Large Scale train market, with each manufacturer offering a different size or scale including 1/32, 1/29, 1/24, 1/22.5, and 1/20.3, the only actual common ground is track gauge or the distance between the rails of 45 millimeters. Marc Horovitz, who established Garden Railways, the leading publication on garden railroading recommends 1/24 scale because it is roughly in the middle of the scales and there are many more compatible items available like diecast model cars, trucks, boats, buildings. Even furniture made for the half-scale dollhouse is perfect. It is an easier scale, for Americans at least, because of the conversion. Just double the number of inches measured or estimated to calculate the number of scale feet. For example, a 3 inch tall figure (times two) is 6 feet tall. A twelve inch piece of sectional track (times two) is 24 scale feet long.

The slide show to the right is a partial display of the many items I currently sell or have sold in past on eBay including figures, buildings, diecast cars, and trucks. I sell trains and track only around the traditional season .
